CASE STUDIES Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Advising on the employment aspects of a major facilities management procurement, involving the transfer of employees in the UK and 11 jurisdictions across North West Europe, together with a major posttransfer restructure. Also advising on commercial and policy strategy for HR/TUPE issues (including COSOP) and coordinated TUPE/ARD advice across European jurisdictions. We were heavily involved in the competitive dialogue process and advising on communications/consultation with employees. Birmingham Children’s Trust Advising on the transfer of c.1,600 social workers and other employees to the Trust from Birmingham City Council. We advised on the employment aspects of establishing the Trust, TUPE consultation with trade unions, negotiating the services contract and a number of issues of public law relevant to the local government sector, including liaising with the Department for Education. Our work involves all new technologies and our expertise has developed as those technologies emerged, becoming mainstream. We were the first firm working on tidal and marine technologies and now can say the same for nuclear fusion and SMRs. UKAEA CASE STUDIES Advising on the development of Nuclear Fusion regulation in the UK and the establishment of the STEP programme and advice on the procurement of various associated contracts. Kent County Council Advised Kent County Council, via its wholly owned subsidiary Commercial Services Group (CSG), on the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Bowerhouse II Solar Limited from Hive Ethical Solar Portfolio 1 Limited. Various local authorities Advising on power purchasing arrangements, solar and wind developments and acquisitions, net zero policies, EV infrastructure and district heat networks. Bristol City Council Advising on the ‘City Leap’ plan to raise around £1bn of investment to transform Bristol into the UK’s first smartenergy, carbon neutral city by 2030. The procurement for energy companies, delivery partners, technology providers and others was launched in 2019 and is now underway.
